MY ISTRIA GUIDE

Day trip to the picturesque town - discover Rovinj and its surroundings

Day trip to the picturesque town - discover Rovinj and its surroundings

Take a detour to Rovinj!

When colorful splashes of paint meet, then we speak of the picturesque town of Rovinj. Do you spend your vacation in one of our villas in Istria? Then we recommend a day trip to Rovinj. More and more visitors are attracted by the romantic-gothic townscape, the artistic alleys, the fascinating sunsets and the traditional cuisine. Rovinj is one of the most beautiful destinations in Croatia.

Start with a walk through the old town. First you will see the most famous monument - the three-nave baroque church of St. Euphemia. Further through the alleys you will reach the town palace, which today serves as the seat of the mayor, the legendary outer gate also called "Balbi Arch" and the clock tower, which is decorated with a relief of the Venetian lion. Also worth mentioning is the Antonio Gandusio Theater, built in the 19th century, where even today locals and tourists enjoy excellent plays.

For all culinary lovers we would like to recommend the restaurant "Monte", located in the heart of the city, which was the first restaurant in Croatia to earn a Michelin star in 2017. Surprise your loved ones with a unique souvenir from the famous perfumery "Parfumo di Rovigno".

The nearby park forest "Zlatni Rt", which was declared a nature reserve in 1961, is perfect for sports activities. The coast of the sunny city of Rovinj offers a variety of beautiful beaches. Is your four-legged friend going on vacation with you? There are a lot of dog beaches in the surroundings. You can find pet-friendly villas with a pool in our offer.

Did you know that Rovinj was originally an island? The island was connected to the mainland in 1763. We recommend a boat trip to the Rovinj archipelago. You should not miss a visit to the islands of St. Catherine and St. Andrija, also called the "Red Island"! Enjoy the boat trip and see the most beautiful places from the sea. Who knows, maybe you will be lucky enough to see dolphins? To discover the untouched nature, to swim through the crystal clear water and to snorkel through the rich underwater world are certainly experiences you will not forget so easily.

North of Rovinj, about a 20-minute drive away, is one of the most beautiful natural treasures of Istria. The Lim Channel is a peculiar geographic feature between Vrsar and Rovinj. The beautiful flora is home to various species of animals. In the restaurants along the coast of the bay you can taste delicacies such as fish and oysters that are bred in this bay. Free climbing enthusiasts will find suitable rocks in the nature.

In the coastal town, both in the summer days and out of season, many small exciting music, dance, media and cultural festivals take place that turn Rovinj into a stage. Some of the most popular annual festivals are the Dolce Vita Festival, the excellent Rovinj Jazz Festival, the Summer Sensual Days, the Summer Salsa Festival, the Grisia Open Air Exhibition and the Weekend Media Festival.

Have we aroused your interest? Stay in one of our villas in Rovinj or Istria and make your vacation one of your most beautiful family memories!
