Are you planning to spend a relaxing vacation on the Adriatic? Lying by the pool, sunbathing and enjoying the peacefulness... Many people imagine a perfect vacation to be just like that. However, if you are
looking for an active vacation, we have a better idea -
horseback riding!
The Dalmatian landscape offers
numerous natural beauties that you definitely must visit. Hiking or
cycling are a good alternative to discover hidden nature. But what about horseback riding? That's something completely different - an unforgettable experience!
No matter whether you are a professional or just a beginner, a child or an adult - in Croatia you have the opportunity to really enjoy this activity, because in Dalmatia there are
around 20 horseback riding stables, ranches and riding clubs where you can choose between individual riding lessons or day trips.
Along the coast you will find riding centres in
Nin, Zadar, Split and Grunda, but also in the inland towns of
Trilj and Sinj. During your stay in one of our villas in Dalmatia, you should definitely visit Sinj. Every year in August the famous
"Sinjska alka", the traditional equestrian competition, is being held there since 1715, as a reminder of the local population's victory over the Turkish Empire.
Since this region of Croatia has a
long tradition of horseback riding, we definitely recommend to take a
horse riding excursion - and with excursion we mean a horse riding tour lasting several days.
If you are a fan of
Western films, then the bond between
Croatia and Winnetou will delight you, because from the multitude of the most beautiful places in the world, precisely those in Croatia were chosen as
locations for the Winnetou films. Today these places offer a perfect destination for a horse riding excursion. If you decide to do it, expect to trot through
impressive steppes, gallop through water and horse-ride over the fascinating landscape along the river Cetina or swim with the horses in the river, as well as to visit the Krka National Park on horseback.
As already mentioned, Dalmatia offers many riding stables, including the
Horse Centre Libertas in Nin, just a few minutes' drive from the city of Zadar. In Zadar you will find the
Epona Riding Club and in Trogir you can ask for more information at the
Trogir Hanako Riding Centre. If you spend your vacation in Split, then you should definitely visit the
small town of Radunic, about an hour away from Split, where the riding club
Equestrian Club Split is located. Of course there are also some other riding stables and clubs in the beautiful region of Dalmatia.
Visit Dalmatia and take the opportunity to
enjoy beautiful views on horseback, while riding through the idyllic Croatian landscape exploring natural beauties.
Book a villa in Dalmatia and get to know the breathtaking variety of Dalmatian landscapes on horseback!
