Croatia is becoming a
well-known and popular tourist destination. Evidently more and more visitors are interested in Croatia, and this for various reasons. In Croatia you can expect the crystal clear Adriatic sea, numerous beaches, breath-taking sceneries, inviting architecture, charming historical towns, beautiful national parks, and many more. And when I say many more, I also mean
fantastic local food, quality wine and good restaurants! In fact, you can find such a superb cuisine in Croatia, that even
famous Michelin guide decided to include Croatia in its list. In
February 2017 Michelin inspectors recommended and listed in the Michelin guide some of the 30 top restaurants in Croatia in the region Istria, city of Dubrovnik and in the capital, Zagreb. And one restaurant got the prestigious culinary award Michelin star. And what more can a restaurant, in which good food in being served, ask for?
In one of my previous posts I already wrote about
Rovinj and its special charm. In the heart of this lovely town in the region Istria you will find
the Restaurant Monte, the
first restaurant in Croatia awarded with the Michelin star. Quite convenient, right? :)
Michelin stars can get restaurants worldwide, which
stand out for their quality, exceptional originality and perfect culinary skills. Although the whole concept is a secret, it is known that, the inspectors, when evaluating restaurants, pay attention to the quality of ingredients, chef’s creativity and skills in preparation of ingredients, quality of the food for the paid price and the consistency of culinary standards. It seems that Restaurant Monte in Rovinj met all these criteria.
Since the visits by the Michelin inspectors are not announced, restaurant’s staff has to treat each guests professionally and according to high standards every time. Each restaurant, which already has got a star, can be reviewed any time again, and either get another star or loose the one that they already have.
