Feeling romantic? Visit Rovinj in Istria and enjoy the vibe of this coastal gem

Rovinj – beautiful beaches and romantic atmosphere

Pozdrav svima! Hello everyone! Recently I was asked: ”What is the name of the picturesque town that can be found on the pictures, you know, the town that looks quite romantic, small cobbled streets, tower, church, it looks like an island with small boats in the front”. Truth to be told, it took me a while to think. I didn’t have a clue what my collocutor was talking about. “Huh, there are so many possibilities. I’m not quite sure I know what are you talking about.” I admitted humbly. But then he continued: “Oh come on, you know, I actually think that was awarded with the title of one the most beautiful coastal towns. I think they call it the most romantic town in Istria!” And then it hit me: “Oh, Rovinj!”.

Rovinj is a town situated on the western Istrian coast. Indeed, it is called one of the most romantic towns. Mediterranean climate, beautiful old town with narrow streets, small squares and colourful houses, a fishing port, beautiful and clear sea, nice beaches… No wonder that it is one of the highlights and touristic hotspots in Croatia!

Colorful houses and narrow streets of downtown Rovinj on the coast of Istria

In order to get an impression, take a walk in the Old Town to the St. Euphemia church. From there you can enjoy the wonderful panoramic sea view. I can also recommend visiting this nice baroque church. The streets of the old town are narrow, cobbled and a bit uphill. Don’t be surprised if you see laundry hanging from the windows of the colourful houses. People still live there.

The old town has a special vibe during the day, but also in the evening when people (tourists and inhabitants) stroll down the streets, when you can hear music on every corner and have a drink or two in one of the numerous bars and restaurants. Don’t miss street Grisia, famous for its galleries and souvenir shops. From the Old Town take a short walk alongside the sea all the way to the park Golden Horn (Zlatni rt, Punta Corrente). To your right there will be a small island called Sv. Katarina. (I hope you still remember my second post about “the land of 1000 islands”! ;)

You can also take your bathing suit with you because you will pass by a couple of nice beaches. In the Golden Horn park you can enjoy the real Mediterranean atmosphere thanks to the cedar trees, stone pine trees, cypress trees, holm oak and Alpine pine. The park is ideal for walking, jogging, relaxing and for bird lovers. You can also try out rock climbing. From the Golden Horn you can see the small island of Sv. Andrija, surrounded by a few even smaller islands (I told you there are many small islands in Croatia ;).

From Rovinj you can also take a catamaran and go on a daily trip to Venice (Italy). I really believe Rovinj offers something for everyone. So come to Rovinj and stay in one of our beautiful villas with pool in Rovinj and its area. Until next time – bok! ;)
