If you have chosen Croatia as your destination and you have booked one of our
villas with pool in the beautiful Kvarner Bay, then take the opportunity and spend your holiday relaxed, but also active! Leave your car parked and get to know the surroundings on foot or by bike.
Discovering the area in a different way, by bike, is for sure going to be a positive experience. If you can not take your own bike on holiday, you can
rent one. There are several bike rental shops in the Kvarner Bay. Whether
mountain bikes, trekking bikes or cross bikes - the selection is large. For families, there are even
children's bikes and child seats. Some even have
e-bikes in their offer. The bikes are rented out per day or even per week. In the Kvarner Bay you can choose from
19 official cycling routes with different levels of difficulty. Choose the one that suits you, you decide on the speed!
You can find
many cycling routes in Rijeka and its surroundings, the
Riviera of Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski, Island of Losinj, Island of Krk, Island of Cres, Island of Rab and in Gorski kotar. Below we present a
route for experienced cyclists through the old towns of Liburnia. The route will take you through the historical towns of
Opatija Rivijera as well as into the hinterland. The route takes abou
t 2.5 hours and is about 40 km long.
Starting in Kastav, the town with interesting architecture and a moving history, you will
go through the smaller towns and uphill to the place
Veprinac. From here you can first enjoy the view of the Kvarner Bay and then drive down to the coast and reach the
town of Icici. On hot summer days, you can refresh yourself in the sea on the beach here.
Afterwards, continue in the direction of
Lovran. Once there, it is worth taking a break and visiting the town centre and the old town. Continue along the main road in the direction of
Moscenicka Draga. There you will find a beautiful kilometre-long pebble beach. Turn right and go uphill again to the
village of Moscenica. There you can visit the old olive press and the ethnographic museum. Drive downhill through the small villages to the end of the route -
Brsec. Drive to the coast to the hidden bathing bay. You will be enchanted by the breathtaking view that stretches from this vantage point.
The large and varied
network of walking and hiking trails along the coast, on
the islands and in the Kvarner mountains, attracts more and more tourists every year because of its beauty. Let's start with the
walkway "Lungomare", also called Franz Josef Promenade, in Opatija. It is about
12 km long and a rather easy walk without any major climbs, for which you should plan about
2-3 hours. The promenade begins in the small fishing village of Volosko and ends in Lovran. Since the promenade runs directly along the sea, you can breathe in the healthy sea air and admire some sights at the same time. For all romantics, a night walk along the illuminated
Lungomare is a must.
Mount Ucka is ideal for relaxation and leisure activities. Almost
200 km of official hiking trails lead you through the nature park. Along the routes there are
rest areas and also restaurants where you can take a break. On the top of the mountain is the
Vojak tower - the panoramic view from the top over the whole Kvarner Bay will take your breath away!
Many holidaymakers first think of Crikvenica as a beach and bathing holiday, but
Crikvenica offers many walking and hiking trails. One of the most beautiful walking and hiking trails is definitely the waterfront promenade that runs from
Kacjak to Selce. In the mountainous hinterland of this coastal town there are many more hiking trails. One of the most famous is the
"love path" of Crikvenica.
The
island of Rab also offers about
37 long hiking and walking trails. The
holiday resort of Baska on the island of Krk is known for its
pebble beach, but in addition to the wonderful bathing opportunities, the
surrounding area offers hiking trails through nature. 19 hiking trails of about 85 km lead you through the village and its surroundings. Not to forget, one of the most important hiking areas is the
Risnjak National Park. It is located in the Rijeka hinterland. The national park was named after the lynx living there (ris in Croatian) and is rich in wildlife. You can enjoy a magnificent view from the top.
The Kvarner Bay has
many other cycling, hiking and walking trails. These are just a few of them. We hope we have awakened your spirit of adventure. Use your time in Croatia actively and fill up with positive energy! Spend your holiday relaxing in one of our villas with pool in the Kvarner Bay and discover the beauties of nature.
