Istria 300,
an extraordinary road cycling event, offers you the chance to ride your bike through all of Istria in only one day. Be prepared to experience a true road cycling adventure!
The event is designed for
passionate amateur road cyclists, who are ambitious enough and in a good enough shape to cover great distances.
Three distances are offered and all roads on these three routes are closed for general traffic. The organisers of the event are Vladimir Miholjevic and Julius Rupitsch, both
very experienced and well known in the world of road cycling.
The race starts and finishes in
Porec, a city with a beautiful old city center which is situated on the
Adriatic coast. Each cyclist gets to choose among three possible routes (300 km, 235 km and 155 km) and they can make up their mind about the distance on the spot i.e. during the ride.
The three routes are
partly intertwined, which allows all participants regardless of the length of the route to experience some of the
most beautiful parts of Istria like Funtana, Vrsar, Svetvincenat, Pazin, Motovun and Novigrad. The shortest route goes through the very heart of Istria. If you opt for the 235 kilometre long route, you will also get the opportunity to see the charming town of
Pazin. Only the most adventurous cyclists will choose the longest course with 5.300 meters elevation.
The small village of Draguc is a real hidden gem on this route.
The motto of the race is
“Ride your limits”, but the time limits allow all participants in good shape to finish the race in time.
The
next edition of Istria 300 takes place on
October 8, 2022 and the registration is already open on the official website of the event. The entry fees are 75, 85 or 95 euro. The price depends on the registration date, but it doesn’t depend on the length of the route. The organisers offer an
additional four-day programme consisting of
a fair and interesting lectures, as well a programme for the
whole family.
After you cover one of the offered distances, you can relax and spend the rest of your holiday in one of the
villas with pool in Porec. Your
family can cheer for you from a distance and if they themselves are interested in cycling, they can set out on one of the nearby bike routes like the
Parenzana.
Don’t miss out on the chance to
take part in this unique event and spend a lovely holiday in Porec!
