You are planning to
spend your vacation in Croatia and are not quite sure which travel destination to choose. It is quite clear that the choice is difficult because there are
so many beautiful places in Croatia that are worth visiting.
The Croatian coast, which is characterised by a multitude of islands, really cannot disappoint you and we believe that you will
fall in love with our country on your first visit.
Since today's everyday life is closely related to the static way of working, it is logical that
active tourism has become very popular. The list of activities that one can do during vacation is really long, but when it comes to Croatia and our
beautiful sea, we have to mention sailing.
In this article you will learn what options are available to you in Croatia and find out which places are worth visiting.
Numerous
regattas are held along the Adriatic coast, where local and foreign participants compete. Adrenaline, being at sea, engaging in physical activity and finally
fighting for the throne sounds tempting, right?
If you want to try sailing but don't have any experience yet, we recommend signing up for a course to
acquire the essential skills. The course usually lasts 5 days and after that you can take part in the competition.
It is important to say that participation in regattas requires a completed course or previous experience.
One of the most popular regattas is the
Vis Regatta, which lasts several days. This competition is more
suitable for people with previous knowledge. For beginners, we recommend the one-day
Murduj Regatta, which is 80 years old and has
over 300 participants.
If adrenaline and lots of physical activity on your vacation are not what you are looking for, but you want to
enjoy sailing, we have found something for you ;)
The best alternative for sailing enthusiasts is to
rent a sailboat. The rental can only be for one or more days. If you are not trained to sail, you can also
hire a skipper.
Sailing is a completely new and different way to
travel the coast and islands and is recommended for holidays with family or friends. A whole day at sea, swimming, diving, cooking in the open air, doesn't that sound tempting?
Island-to-island sailing and sightseeing breaks will make your vacation truly unforgettable. Imagine sailing through the
archipelago of Central Dalmatia and discovering a bay where you want to relax and swim in the sea. Nothing easier than that, the sailboat stops and the fun can begin.
Whether you choose to sail for one or more days, we are sure you will have a
pleasant time at sea.
Ideal destinations for sailing are the islands of Hvar, Brac, Vis, Mljet, which is also a National park, Korcula, Kornati National Park and many others.
If you want to round off your holiday with a sailing tour, the
right preparation is also important. Skippers or agencies where you rented a sailboat can give you the best tips.
Of course it is also helpful to know the
warning signs so that everyone can react in time: MAYDAY is a sign that the ship is in
danger. The PAN PAN signal indicates that we wish to transmit an urgent message regarding
crew or ship safety. SECURITE is a warning sign meaning that a coast or radio station wishes to send a message related to a
weather or navigation warning.
If you have chosen
one of our luxury villas with pool in Istria, Kvarner or Dalmatia and want to enjoy the sea, we definitely advise you to
plan a day or two for sailing. After the day at sea, relax in the villa you have chosen for
yourself and your loved ones and enjoy everything that surrounds you.
