Surely you will be able to name some
famous travel destinations in Croatia if you`re asked about them: Dubrovnik, Split, Pula, the island of Krk or Rab ... But many of us
long for something special; for a unique, authentic, not so “exploited” vacation experience. We would like to come home and report about new discoveries from a
wonderful vacation with the family in a very special environment.
Croatia has many hidden pearls. Discover the small rural towns in the inland or enchanting fishing villages on the coast. With the unmistakable charm and their typical lifestyle, with simplicity and serenity, these pearls
will immediately sneak into your heart.
The
hospitable inhabitants will immediately win you over with their warmth and light-heartedness and give you the feeling that you are not just a tourist, but a
neighbour like everyone else in the village.
If you have booked a
holiday home in the south of Croatia, then we have to highlight the towns of
Opuzen and
Ston. Never heard of? Great then! :-) As soon as the opportunity arises,
these places should be visited. Opuzen on the
Neretva River offers not only its interesting appearance but also something different from a culinary point of view. Try dishes made from eel, crayfish and delicious mussels. In Ston you should definitely be
stepping inside the city walls and also visit the salt works. Just a nice walk away is
Mali Ston, famous for its oysters.
An insider tip is
Skradin, one of the oldest cities in Croatia. Skradin is located in a small bay on the
Krka River, which is below the arched bridge of the same name and houses imposing yachts in its harbour. Visit the
Krka National Park and then enjoy a pleasant evening in this enchanting town near
Sibenik.
Sv. Filip i Jakov, on the other hand, is a
small fishing village where you can spend your vacation wonderfully inconspicuous ... Hard to believe when you consider that the island of love “
Galesnjak” is just a few kilometres north. Probably the most famous island in Croatia owes its name to the heart shape. The
perfect place for lovers and romantics among us ...
The oldest royal city in Croatia with the coronation church of St. Nicholas is
Nin. Wonderful sandy beaches and shallow seas are
ideal for families with children! But we do not want to withhold
Privlaka from you, just a few kilometres away. The long promenade is ideal for romantic walks. On Mostina beach you will find the
famous black healing mud, which is said to help against arthritis, rheumatism and cellulite. And where else can children just enjoy playing in mud?
Those who like it a little more rural will feel right at home in
Delnice and
Fuzine, east of Rijeka. Delnice is hidden in a valley surrounded by greenery and here it seems as if time has stood still. If you like hiking, visit the small cave at the
Zeleni Vir waterfall. Only 15 minutes to the south is Fuzine with its
Vrelo cave and Lake Beyer, where you can refresh yourself in the middle of the green landscape.
Buzet and Buje are sleepy villages in northern Istria that offer you the
seclusion and tranquility that you so desperately need, to forget everyday life and worries. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air of the woods. Enjoy olive oil, truffles and wine right at the source and
let the locals show you how it is made.
Zminj, a beautiful small town, is located in the heart of Istria. From here, the coastal cities with their beaches and attractions are easy to reach. A very special highlight of Zminj is
Festinsko Kraljevstvo, a stalactite cave that impresses young and old alike. The area around Zminj is the perfect place for
hiking and cycling if you want to spend your vacation actively. A trip to the ruined city of
Dvigrad would be a good idea, wouldn't it?
As you can see, Croatia has quite a few hidden gems to discover. Book your
private villa with pool in Croatia and go on a tour of discovery!
