If you want to experience a taste of authentic Mediterranean but still don't want to give up on all the comforts of a modern holiday home, the enchanting Villa Gardens could be just the perfect match. Set within the stunning karst countryside of the Dalmatian hinterland, yet within a short driving distance from some of the most beautiful beaches Croatia has to offer, this charming villa will soon get you into the relaxing holiday mood.
True to its name, the villa is surrounded by a series of gardens, featuring a vibrantly verdant array of Mediterranean herbs, seasonal vegetables and fruit trees that are, of course, free at your disposal. The centre stage belongs, however, to the incredibly inviting private pool fringed by a beautiful stone terrace, comfortably furnished for lounging, sunbathing and enjoying the breathtaking mountain views. A few steps up is the shaded outdoor dining room, complete with a traditional built-in barbecue, where you can throw a few steaks, pour yourself a cold beverage and really unwind with friends and family.
From the shaded terrace one enters the cosy living area with traditional beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and a wood fired oven creating a warm, rustic ambiance. Plenty of thoughtful, colourful details add a delightful personal touch and will surely make you feel even more welcome. The living room is connected directly to the well-equipped rustic kitchen with a lovely dining room, where you will be surely ready to try your hand at some local dishes, perhaps inspired by the exquisite fresh local products that can be purchased from the very helpful villa owners. On the ground floor is also one of the bathrooms with a bath tub.
The first floor belongs to the three comfortable, individually styled bedrooms (two doubles and one twin), as well as one shared bathroom.
This relaxing country retreat certainly provides all the ingredients for a holiday that will remain with you for a lifetime.
Villa Gardens is located in the small village of Duge Njive immersed within the spectacular karst landscape typical for the Dalmatian hinterland. There is a local restaurant at only 500 m from the villa, offering traditional spit roasted lamb and delicious homemade ham and cheese. For a larger variety of restaurants, bars and shops head to Vrgorac (cca. 20 km). This small town boasts rich cultural and gastronomic heritage which can be witnessed in the beautiful ethno-villages and agrotourisms of the area. The highlight is, however, the nearby Makarska Riviera, with its heavenly beaches, fragrant pinewoods and the stunning Biokovo Mountain towering above the glorious coastline. Lively nightlife and a rich variety of water sports are available here, as well as daily trips to the beautiful islands of Hvar and Brac. With mountains, sea and rivers side by side, this region is also a perfect playground for adventure enthusiasts.
How many times have you looked at a holiday destination/hotel/villa etc & got so excited about your trip, only to be disappointed when you arrived because it was nothing like it showed or explained in their write up. Well this villa was exactly as written, in fact it was far & beyond. We were met by Deloris who explained a few things about the villa & then left us to our weeks holiday with no other contact except a message midweek to check we were ok & enjoying our holiday. We were left cheese, butter, bread, ham, milk, wine, beer, jam. The villa was really clean & comfortable. We only left the villa once to get some food & for a drive around the local area. We had a BBQ practically every night on the wood fire BBQ which was amazing. The villa was so secluded & quiet which enabled us to have the most peaceful & restful week. On the day of leaving, Deloris came to say goodbye & I literally cried as I did not want to leave. We will definitely return. Thank you Deloris & Alan for everything. (if I could have put more than 5 stars i would)

Landschaftlich wunderschön, traumhaftes Haus mit super schönem Pool. Zudem waren Dolores und Alen die besten und freundlichsten Gastgeber, welche man sich nur vorstellen kann. Uns hat es nach nichts gefehlt und wir können die Villa Gardens nur wärmstens empfehlen.......
Eine Wohlfühloase geschaffen durch die liebenswerten Gastgeber Dolores und Alen.
Das Haus und die Gartenanlage, mit beheizbarem Pool, wurden mit viel Kreativität
und Liebe zu nützlichen, schönen Details gestaltet. Die Realität ist schöner als die Bilder.
Wer einen Ort für Ruhe zur Entspannung sucht ist in diesem Haus, mit seiner an nichts
fehlenden Ausstattung und den super Gastgebern genau richtig.

Wat een heerlijke plek om tot rust te komen! Het charmante en oerdegelijk gebouwde huis ligt in een gehucht (6 inwoners ;-) ) waar je op het geluid van een handvol krekels, bijen en vogels na (en een op ruime afstand verloren gelopen haan plus hond) amper een geluid hoort. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien en brandschoon en de matrassen liggen heerlijk. De koelkast is bij aankomst zoals alle voorgangers hier al vermeldden voorzien van wat boodschappen (top!) met onder andere brood, water, zelfgemaakte wijn en de goddelijk smakende door gastvrouw Dolores zelfgemaakte vijgenjam. Beste jam ooit geproefd! (Dolores, ik zie absoluut een businessmodel om jouw jam op grote schaal te vermarkten ;-) ). Zwembad is brandschoon en heerlijk om geregeld in te duiken en de tomaten uit eigen tuin smaken zo zoet, dat je bijna denkt dat je fruit eet in plaats van groente. Kleine aanbeveling: een simpele broodrooster zou nog goed in de keuken passen voor brood dat al een dag oud is (de dichtstbijzijnde supermarkt/bakker is 15 minuten rijden).
Heerlijke plek, superlieve gastvrouw, prachtige omgeving en alleen maar positive vibes. Aanrader!!
Alle Bilder entsprechen der Realität...eine echte Oase der Ruhe und Entspannung. Dolores und Alen sind perfekte Gastgeber , wir hatten eine fantastisch erholsame Urlaubswoche und können es wirklich allen empfehlen, die Privatsphäre geniessen möchten und der Hektik entfliehen wollen .Der Pool ist genial und wurde extra beheizt, das Areal ist total umfriedet und den ganzen Tag besonnt, das Haus von uriger Gemütlichkeit und mit allen praktischen Dingen ausgestattet, sehr sauber und ordentlich - es gab sogar ein paar Lekkerli im Kühlschrank zum Einzug . Die Landschaft drumrum ist bergig und von rauhem Charme --eher menschenleer ( tierleer auch ...bis auf einen Hahn, einen Hund , eine Katze und eine Eidechse und ein paar Schmetterlinge und einige andre Flugviecherl nix gehehen und gehört...) . Die Fahrt an die Küste führt über eine spektakuläre Abfahrt mit Wahnsinnspanorama. In Makarska findet man viele kleine Strände -- mehr und weniger belebt, je nach Geschmack --und gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Das Meer ist hier durch die Steine superklar und angenehm. Fazit : Paradiesisch für Ruhesuchende . Vielen Dank an Dolores und Alen und grosses Lob für dieses Kleinod , das mit sehr viel Liebe und Geduld und solider Handwerkskunst geschaffen wurde-- einfach zum Wohlfühlen. Wir empfehlen euch ganz sicher weiter !!

Ein traditonsbewust entferntesten und neu aufgebautes Steinhaus. Sehr schönes, abgegrenzten Poolareal. Sehr gut ausgestattet - v a. Auch die Küche. Ideal für eine Familie. Dolores ist eine sehr fürsorgliche Gastgeberin, die jederzeit erreichbar ist und bei allem prompt weiterhilft. 30 Minuten auf einer teils spektakulären Straße nach Makarska! Sehr schön.
Het was een zeer aangenaam verblijf in Villa Gardens: zeer gerieflijk en gezellig huis. Ideaal om tot rust te komen! Geen aangrenzende buren en volledig ommuurd.
Heel lieve en behulpzame gastvrouw! Ze had de koelkast al gevuld bij aankomst. Op elke vraag kregen we snel een antwoord.
We hebben genoten van ons verblijf in Villa Gardens!

Es ist einfach traumhaft, eine sehr schöne Villa mit Pool an einem sehr ruhigen Ort, wo man richtig entspannen kann. Alles ist sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Die Gastgeber Dolores und Alen sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir wurden so herzlich empfangen, dass man sich wünscht jedes Jahr wieder zu kommen. Vielen Dank für alles Dolores und Alen, es war ein wunderschöner Urlaub in Eurer Villa :)
We were very fond of the place, our hosts (filled fridge with free of charge food for the first day, self-made wine, self-made cherry jam, response and solution time for any issue we had below 1 h, etc. etc. Many Thanks to Dolores and her husband!)
The pool was perfectly heated even though we were there in October!
Location is extremely quiet, equipment is nice and well being is granted. Enjoy going there!

This beautifully designed villa with private pool is a piece of paradise.
There are no direct neighbors which gives absolute privacy (completely enclosed) and piece.
Villa is spacious with a great attention to detail. Property owners are really nice people who take care and even filled the fridge with food and drinks when we checked in. Perfect and friendly communication.

We absolutely loved this villa. Our family of four (two adults, two children) stayed here for a week in October and had a fantastic holiday in this beautiful part of Croatia.
The Villa itself is lovely. It's a modern building but contains lots of characterful features. The three bedrooms are on the upper floor and are all of a good size. There is plenty storage space for luggage etc.
On the ground floor the sitting area had plenty room for us. Our children appreciated the smart tv and internet which meant they could use an Amazon Firestick to watch their favourite shows at night. The kitchen is well equipped and there was plenty of room for the four of us to eat at the dining table.
Most of our meals, however, were served outside and this is where the villa really came into its own. There is a lovely covered outdoor dining area, with sweeping views of the countryside and mountains. It was a lovely place to enjoy a relaxed breakfast or lunch.
The porch overlooked the pool area, which had been finished to a very high standard. The pool itself wasn't huge but we used it every day and our children loved it. The owners provided pool heating free of charge and, while the water wasn't tropical, it was certainly warm enough for us to spend many happy hours splashing about!
The pool area had plenty of places to sit or sunbathe and, again, lots of lovely open views, overlooking the garden. The owners encouraged us to help ourselves to vegetables in the garden and we loved the fresh tomatoes and peppers.
The villa is in a quiet countryside location, but is only 10 minutes' drive from Croatia's main north-south motorway, so it's within easy reach of Split to the north and Dubrovnik to the south. We also visited Mostar which is only one hour's drive (you'll need your passport). The seaside resort of Makaraska, with lots of shops, restaurants and a morning market, is a 20-minute drive away through some spectacular coastal scenery.
Above all, we were both impressed and touched by the welcome we received from the property owners. On arrival, the fridge was stocked with all the essentials we needed such as milk, bread, butter, meat and cheese, and also some non-essentials which we really enjoyed like chocolate and home-made jam and wine!
This was a great villa for a relaxing family holiday and I hope we will be able to return some day!
